You create standard patterns either by photographing or scanning existing patterns and on-screen insertion of pattern lines and curves on top of the digital image pixels, or by modifying one of the standard blocks supplied with fashion cad. You can grade patterns to specific sizes or made to measure sizes in seconds, from your standard pattern design. Detailing and drafting of patterns with seams, text, notches, etc is done using the standards cad drafting tools. The final patterns can be combined in a marker layout for plotting on a wide plotter, or individual patterns tiled to your desktop printer in page sized pieces or output to an hpgl file for emailing to an external printing service. General Description :

Fashion CAD is a computer graphics software for pattern design, automatic pattern grading, pattern detailing and marker layout embodied within a fully featured CAD drafting system.
Fashion CAD runs on PC's running MSWindows software. Also PowerMac with VirtualPC.

Fashion CAD can be used for an extensive range of garment needs - Formal, Bridal, Casual, Uniforms, Costumes, Sportswear, Lingerie and Children's wear - any pattern creation in material. For men's clothes, women's, misses, children even dolls, bags, etc - Fashion CAD works for all these requirements.

You can scan, photograph with a digital camera or digitise (at any size) old patterns, or create new ones "on-screen". Then interactively modify to match the needs of a particular garment.
Fashion CAD comes with sets of over 200 metric or 200 imperial blocks in the different sizes for women, teens and girls for basic tops, skirts, sleeves and pants. Also for men and boys with basic blocks for tops, pants and sleeves. You can also create your own library of patterns and blocks.

The Fashion CAD grading process takes the "little-black-book mystique" out of the traditional grading rules. You can automatically grade to any personal measurements, as in made-to-measure garments, or by including measurements for a range of sizes you can grade a whole range in one operation - in just a few seconds. All this requires is a few basic measurements for each pattern piece. The end result is more accurate, much quicker and easier to repeat or modify for standard size ranges or for that "less than perfect" figure....

You can output your patterns from FashionCAD to any MSWindows supported printer/plotter and can "tile" the output to your desktop printer in "page sized" pieces which you can stick together. Practically you should consider the widest printer/plotter you can afford. Alternatively you can output in HPGL format for sending to an external printing service.
